Reining |
When training reining horses I spend more time than most trainers with proper fundamentals. I want my horses turning around properly on their hind quarters, moving off leg and seat aids, neck reining, giving to pressure, halting of my seat, and backing on a loose rein. I want my horses to lope balanced and upright circles. But most of all I want my horses to stay calm and sound in both body and mind. Reining is the foundation for all good western riding and training no matter what discipline you ride. |

Reined Cow Horse
Reined Cow horse combines the complex training and horsemanship of reining with the excitement of cattle work. Training horses on cattle is what I like to call "training with a purpose". Now there is a reason to slide stop, a reason to rollback, a reason to back, and a reason to move out. This kind of training makes sense to the horses and makes it a whole lot of fun for both horse and rider. |
